Mobile broadband is very much in demand for various reasons. Dongles are available in open markets, but to ensure speed and reliability of the service it is better to purchase them through broadband service providers.

The quality of service through the adoption of dongles is similar to the internet connectivity in mobile phones. There can be lack of uniformity in the quality of reception. Speed variation also may be experienced due to weak signals in particular locality. As in the case of mobile phone service providers, speed and reliability may differ from one agency to another. The service providers will offer detailed maps showing the areas of coverage. Several types of packages are available for consumers to choose from. Rates vary depending on the period of contract. Longer terms of contracts will be beneficial when it comes to rates of subscriptions. Those who want to download large volumes of data especially for business purposes can better choose long term contracts to avail cheaper terms as well as increased free allowance. Usually period of contract vary from 12 months to 24 months. With the introduction of 3G technology, the mobile broadband has become more efficient and faster. The Government has now initiated action plans to extend 3G service to entire country.

One of the drawbacks in the service available now is that the speed of the broadband connectivity cannot be ensured as in the case of fixed line services. It is because of the dependence on many local factors which are beyond the control of the service operators. But situation will improve once the introduction of 3G technology is complete. As on now leading broadband service providers are making earnest efforts to improve the quality of service provided by them.
